1. Independent website — not the FDA

openFDA Explorer is an independent website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). All FDA data shown here comes from the public openFDA API. We built this site to make that data easier to browse — nothing more. Official FDA information lives at fda.gov and open.fda.gov.

2. Health and safety

This site is for general information, research, journalism, and software prototyping only. Nothing on these pages — including drug labels, adverse event reports, recall notices, device filings, food enforcement records, or our written guides — is a diagnosis, treatment plan, or substitute for professional care.

  • Do not start, stop, or change a medicine or device based on this website.
  • Adverse event reports (including FAERS) mean someone filed a report. They do not prove a product caused a problem.
  • If you have a medical emergency, contact local emergency services or a qualified clinician.

3. FDA public data

Search results are returned by the public openFDA API. We do not create, edit, or verify individual FDA records for clinical, legal, or regulatory use. Datasets can be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, or reported voluntarily. The FDA’s own disclaimers apply to the underlying data. See the openFDA license.

4. Our articles and tools

Guides, examples, and the Explorer interface are educational. Example queries are illustrations, not recommendations. We may update articles as APIs change. We do not warrant that any page is complete or error-free.

5. Advertising

We may display third-party ads, including through Google AdSense or similar networks, to help cover hosting costs. Ads are labeled where required. We do not control advertiser claims, and an ad is not an endorsement by openFDA Explorer or by the FDA. Advertising does not change which endpoints you can search or how FDA data is shown.
